On Friday 2nd March 2018, the Blockchain Malta Association organised a conference on the consultation paper issued by Government earlier in February 2018 on DLT regulation. The conference was held at Le Meridien Hotel, St Julians and tackled various aspects of the consultation paper. The conference was addressed in a keynote speech by the Honourable Silvio Schembri and further introduced by Mr Steve Tendon, the Founder and President of the Blockchain Malta Association.

The session focused on the prospects of future acts such as the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA), the TAS bill (a bill to provide a framework for the registration of Auditors and Administrators of DLT Platforms and the certification of such platforms), and certification of smart contracts and legal organisations within the blockchain context. The attending audience represented blockchain companies, local advisors, consultancies and leading law firms. As a panellist, Dr Ian Gauci discussed the importance of smart contracts whereby he also touched upon legal personality, DAO and DLT as a technology.
