Dr Ian Gauci, senior partner at GTG Advocates, will be serving as a member of the newly formed task force advising on the implementation of Malta’s national blockchain strategy. This appointment was announced by the Government of Malta as part of its ambitious initiative regarding the creation of a new regulatory function aimed at facilitating the adoption of new technologies within the context of a sound legal and operational framework attracting investment in technologies relating to blockchain.

The task force was set up to review proposals as well as to make recommendations concerning Malta’s blockchain strategy, promoting the use of blockchain technology in the public as well as private sector. The task force will also be issuing a call for proposals to a number of advisory firms and companies operating in the field of financial services with the aim of encouraging the growth of Malta’s digital economy, in line with the Maltese government’s commitment towards the adoption of blockchain and other related technologies in Malta.

Chaired by Vincent Muscat, Permanent Secretary for the Parliamentary Secretariat for financial services and the digital economy, members of the task force will also include Mario Borg, Joseph Cuschieri, Wayne Grixti, Loui Mercieca Carlo Stivala and Steve Tendon.
