2004 marked a historical landmark for Malta with accession as full member to the European Union.

Europadvise was set up in 2000 with the aim of aiding governmental authorities and businesses in preparing for membership in the EU and ensuring that they are compliant with all the relevant legislation. This was instrumental in ensuring that Maltese laws were amended in compliance with the acquis communitaire and in facilitating the transition for Maltese businesses to new EU realities.

Europadvise has now been integrated into our specialised and dedicated EU legal unit which regularly advises governmental authorities and private entities alike.

Our work includes assistance and advice in the areas of:

• Drafting legislation transposing EU Directives into Maltese law;
• Developments in legislation affecting stakeholders;
• Jurisdictional issues, particularly those regarding the interpretation of EU Regulation 44/2001. In this regard GTG has been involved in a major case concerning iGaming;
• Conflict of laws;
• Issues involving the fundamental freedoms of movement of persons, good and capital;
• Procedures to be adopted in front of European institutions.
