Dr Ian Gauci, Partner and Head of the Communications, Media and Technology Department at GTG Advocates will be speaking at the annual Malta Cloud Forum event taking place on the 30th of November at the Intercontinental Hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta.
The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) is the Maltese regulatory body for communications services in Malta. Whilst its primary concern is the regulation of communications services, it is further tasked with the implementation of initiatives set to ensure that all businesses and individuals are adequately equipped to fully engage in online activities. The Malta Cloud Forum (MCF) is an annual event hosted by the MCA with the original aim of bringing together a multitude of stakeholders in the field in order to encourage the adoption of cloud computing amongst business organisations. The MCF aims to explore the current cloud scene on a local level through a number of discussion panels comprised of both local and foreign experts in their fields.
Dr Gauci will be discussing cloud computing and migration to the Cloud with particular focus on the practical aspects of migration for businesses in order for participants to gain insight into what the shift might entail from a less theoretical, and a more hands-on point of view.
The discussion will centre around these salient points:
- Why migrate to the Cloud?
- What effect would migrating to the Cloud have on staff, IT running costs, etc.?
- What are the main risks and challenges inherent in migration?
- What legal implications should one consider prior to adopting cloud computing?
- What are the primary benefits of moving onto the Cloud?
